Mother's Day

For Mother's Day this year I decided to let the kids decorate some flower pots for the Nana's. It is sometimes difficult to pick out a present for the grandparent's and what better gift to give than a gift from the heart. I wasn't sure how they would paint them until I got my Mother's Day gift from the kids at school. Brayden and Peyton got to each give me their hand print in clay with a card. It gave me the inspiration to do hand print butterflies so I search the Internet but couldn't really find any pictures of what I wanted so I improvised. I have the kids put their hand prints on the pots which mid-way through I was like this was so not my best idea! Once the hand prints dried we curled pipe cleaners to form the body and antenna and glued on googly eyes. Once completed we transplanted a pretty and colorful plant in them. I think they turned out too cute and both Nana's loved them!

As for my Mother's Day, Brent made me waffles for breakfast and he grilled hot dogs for lunch and went to dinner that evening. What could be better than a day of not having to plan and cook meals for everyone. Plus I got the Shark steam mop for my birthday/mother's day!

Thank goodness for washable paints!

Works in progress.

The finished product!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Brayden's 4th Birthday

Our baby boy is getting bigger every day and every year seems to go by quicker and quicker. It's hard to believe that the little baby that we prayed so hard for is now turning 4! Miracles do happen, they happen every day and I am blessed to have not one but two of them in my life. I have loved being able to spend almost every minute of my children's lives with them and watching them learn new things and have new experiences. I love my husband even more for supporting our family and giving me the opportunity to stay home with them. I will never regret my decision to quit my job and stay home and I am grateful to Brent that he has always supported that decision!

Brayden's birthday fell on Thursday this year so the kids and school and so did I. I did make cupcakes for his class and goodie bags for them too! We had pizza ordered and delivered to his class for lunch that day and everyone sang Happy Birthday to him. He was very excited and so happy that he had two parties this year! Since I had school I wasn't able to take pics of the party but I did take one of him on his 4th birthday and some of the goodies!

Our big 4 year old.

My crummy attempt at Zebra stripped cupcakes turned to marbled cupcakes.

What party would be complete without goodies?

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo fell on a Tuesday this year and Brayden's class celebrated by making poncho's and maracas. A little history about Cinco de Mayo, it is celebrated because the Mexican army overcame the much better equipped French army at the Battle of Pueblo on May 5, 1862. Many people think that this holiday is in celebration of Mexico's Independence Day but that is on my sister's birthday which is September 16th! I'm sure no one really cares to know about Mexico's traditions and celebrations but I have always thought it was cool because I was born the day after Cinco de Mayo and my big sis on it's Independence Day!

So enough of the boring stuff I had to take pics of Brayden because he looked too cute in his little outfit!

Brayden's 4th Birthday Party

Saturday, May 2nd we had Brayden's 4th birthday party at the Fort Worth Zoo. We had a blast despite the threat of the Swine Flu and rain! None of us got sick out there so.. that was a good thing. I personally think the whole thing was way.... overblown! I guess I was right since the CDC is now sending kids back to school and saying that the H1N1 virus is no more serious than that of the seasonal flu. Oh well, we definitely will remember this birthday. We did get rained on but the zoo is shaded by so many trees that it really wasn't that bad. The only time it poured on us we were already in our party room so it wasn't a problem. Brayden had a blast playing with his friends so that's all that matters in the end! Everyone had a great time and we all agreed that we would have to go back and visit the zoo again. Thanks to everyone who braved the elements and came out to celebrate Brayden's birthday with us! I pray next year is a little less eventful though.

King of the jungle cake!

Forney Community Park

I took the kids to the new park in Forney to play with cousin Cassidi. They had a blast and we wished that we had more time to play but it was a week night and everyone had to get home to bed. They had fun playing on all of the cool playground equipment and we can't wait for the water park area to open up!

Little monkey climber.

Peyton's favorite thing, sliding!

He wouldn't settle for the bottom he had to climb all the way to the top.

Rock climbing and he was disappointed because he couldn't make it all the way up.

Brayden and cousin Cassidi.

Around and round he goes!

The water park area should be much more fun when the water is turned on.

Peyton is hanging out she didn't want to take the chance that their was water in the sprayers!
